Jags, Tigers , and Delta Devils welcome back alumni for Homecoming…..PVAMU takes on struggling Rice …


Week 8 starts the second stretch of Homecomings of sorts. Things get kicked off in Houston as the Jackson State Tigers hope to spoil Texas Southern’s homecoming. JSU is coming off a tough loss to the Southern Jaguars 28-24 in a much heated rivarly game in Jackson. The Blue Bengals were lead by their 3rd QB of the season,  Jarin Morikawa as he threw for 136 yards and 1 TD against the Jaguars. However, which QB that shows up will have work to do. RB Jordan Johnson and Joshua Bates paced the Tigers ground game respectively. WR Dan Williams paces the Tigers passing game. Javancy Jones leads the Blue Bengals defense with 33 stops. Texas Southern is coming off a tough road loss to Alcorn State 23-20. QB Avion Hurts 1,184 yards passing and 9 touchdowns leads TSU offense. RB Tyler Cooks leads the Tigers rushing attack. WR Austin Watts and Tracy Johnson are deep threats for the Tigers wide outs. Jamal Lucas ‘s 49 stops leads the defense.

Grambling State looks to continue their momentum towards a SWAC championship as the look to spoil Mississippi Valley’s homecoming. GSU is lead by QB De Vante Kincade who has played well all season thus far. Kincade’s 1,027 yards and 9 TD’s paces the Tigers offense. RB Martez Cater and Justin Kelly leads the ground game. WR Chad Williams looks to continue to impress as his 554 yards and 3td’s leads a bevy of wideouts. Verlan Hunters adds excitement to the Tigers offense. Guy Stallworth paces the defense. MVSU looks to give the homecoming crowd an upset gift. QB Austin Bray’s 1,103 yards passing and 4 Td’s paces the offense. WR Joshua Banks looks to add to his team leading 447 yards and 3td’s. Mark Pegues 47 stops paces the defense.

Prairie View A&M is coming off a bye week and looks to get back to business visiting FBS Rice University in Houston. PVAMU struggled at home in OT with a victory over Alabama State 24-17. QB Trey Green has been injury prone and might not be available this week. QB Jalen Morton stepped in for the injured Green however, it was a learning process. Green’s 1,164 and 8td’s paces the Panther offense. However, his 10 picks hurt as well. RB  Stafon Mc Cray has been a beast of late. WR Demarquo Lastra and KhaDarel Hodge leads the Panther wide outs. Defensively , Terrance Single’s 44 stops is tops. Rice University is struggling to get their first win. The Owls are 0-6 however, could PVAMU be what the doctor ordered. Stehling, Tyler 985 yards passing and 5tds paces the Owls offense. RB Derick Dillard and Samuel Stewart are the ground keepers. WR Zach Wright paces the pass catchers.

UAPB is coming off a thrashing to Alabama A&M 40-7 at home. The Lions now have the tough task of traveling to Baton Rouge to take on the Southern Jaguars for their homecoming. UAPB is paced by QB Brandon Duncan’s 1,614 yards passing and 9td’s. WR Willie Young 570 yards and 4 tds leads the pass catchers. RB Donte McDonald paces the Lions rushing attack. Willie Duncan’s 65 stops leads the defense. Southern is riding high after their huge win over Jackson State 28-24. The Jaguars will be looking to give the homecoming crowd a treat. QB Austin Howard paces the Jaguar attack with 1,276 yards passing and 13 td’s. RB Lenard Tillery looks to inch closer to that SWAC record as his 630 yards rushing and 5 td’s. WR Willie Quinn looks to give the crowd a treat also. Quinn’s 543 yards receiving and 6 td’s is tops. Danny Johnson leads a strong defense for the Jags.
