G-Men gets revenge, Jags and Panthers keep scoring , Hornets drought continue, JSU’s Hughes gets first win….


Week 5 of the college football season was great as well. There were a few upsets and also a firing as a result of a loss. In the Southwestern Athletic Conference , the Grambling State Tigers wanted revenge and it was revenge the got. The G-men welcome the 2015 SWAC Champs , Alcorn State Braves to the Rob as it is affectionately called. Devante Kincade threw five TD passes and ran for another score and Grambling State beat Alcorn State 43-18. Kincade accounted for 400 yards passing. WR Chad Williams 188 yards receiving and 1 TD paced the Tigers passing game. GSU’S Mr. Excitement..Martez Carter caught 2 tds as well. The Braves were paced by RB Aaron Baker 131 yards rushing.


Southern University traveled to Huntsville to take on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. Southern went and took care of business as the Jags demolished the Bulldogs 59-31. QB Austin Howard threw for 260 yards and 5tds. RB Lenard Tillary rushed for 179 yards and 2 Tds. WR Willie Quinn caught 7 balls for 112 yards and 1 td. The Bulldogs were paced by QB D’angelo Ballard 252 yards passing and 1TD. 


Coach Willie Simmons and his Panthers visted the Delta to take on the MVSU Delta Devils. Well, as usual the Panthers sprinted out to a 56-21 victory over the win less Delta Devils. QB Trey Green passes for 259 yards and 2tds to pace the Panthers.  Anthony Wiltz accounted for 151 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns to help the Panther cause. MVSU was paced by QB Austin Brey 174 passing. 


Coach Mike Haywood and his Texas Southern Tigers continued their winning streak as the won 31-27 at Alabama State. QB Avion Hurts passed for 222 yards and 2tds to pace the Tigers. WR Austin Watts caught 4 balls for 103 yards and 1 td to pace the Tigers air game. ASU was lead by QB Quinterris Toppings with 323 passing yards with one touchdown.

Coach Tony Hughes finally broke through with his first win as Tigers coach with a 32-20 victory over the UAPB Lions in Pine Bluff. JSU was paced by QB Brent Lyles 245 yards and 2 Tds. UAPB was paced by QB Brandon Duncan’s 267 yards passing and 2tds.
