Ok, Week 2 of college football has past and now we are approaching conference play. Many teams are starting to define themselves while others are still in search of an identity. One team that comes to mind as we head into week 3 is the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Grambling State Tigers. Fresh off a nearly upset of the PAC 12 University of Arizona , losing 31-21 , the Tigers look to be primed to run the table in the conference.
Coach Broderick Fobbs has done an excellent job in implementing those FBS transfers into the Tigers schemes. QB DeVante Kincade has done a great job so far. After leading the Tigers to a 21-3 half time lead over the Wildcats, Kincade looked as if he was going to make history for the G-Men. However, Kincade suffered what many would say a pulled hamstring which is now a day to day deal. The G-Men looked to be cracking on all cylinders against the Wildcats.
Both QB’S Kincade and Cherry did a good job despite Cherry’s 3 INT in the 2nd half. RB Martez Carter play with vengeance. Carter took a swing pass and bounced to the outside down the sideline for a Tiger TD. WR Chad Williams improved his NFL stock as he burned the Wildcat secondary for 13 grabs and 152 yards. WR Dominique Leak and Verlen Hunter also did damage combining for 10 grabs and 132 yards and 1 TD. The Tigers offense looked potent during the first half against the FBS Wildcats. The second half was another story.
However, with a trip to Jackson State looming this Saturday , can the G-Men up their game like they did against Arizona. JSU is coming off a loss themselves to Tennessee State which they held a brief lead until the TSU Tigers rallied for the win. JSU is looking to break into the win column with an upset victory. However, The G-Men looked so polished against Arizona in the first , can they run the table with or without Kincade? ……..Realsportsrealtalk……
