I hope everyone survived the weekend rain bans of Hurricane Patricia. Now let’s get to it. Southern University took it’s show on the road looking to keep pace with the GMEN and PVAMU if it wants to return back to Houston in December. Coming off a tough home loss to PVAMU , Southern sprinted out to a 21-7 lead on a rainy day for Texas Southern’s Homecoming on to a 40-21 victory. The rain hurt the Tigers big day but it didn’t faze the Jaguar nation as at least 3 to 5K made the trip from Baton Rouge to support their Jaguars. Willie Quinn picked up where he left off as he dazzled in the rain on a 97 yard kickoff return on the opening kickoff. The Jags passing game was none existant. RB Leonard Tillery 196 yards rushing and 2tds paced the Jaguars. TSU’s Avion Hurts 102 yards passing and 2tds paced the Tigers.
Another set of Tigers celebrated Homecoming as the GMEN defeated the lowly MVSU 49-14 in a mud feast in northern Louisiana. QB Johnathan Williams 225 yards passing and 2 tds paced the Gmen. RB Justin Kelly 159 yards rushing and 2tds paced the ground game. WR CHester Rogers 118 yards paced the air game.
Jackson State celebrated their Homecoming also with a blitzing of UAPB 37-3. QB Jarin Mokaraw subbed in for LaMontiez Ivy and threw for 333 yards and 3tds to pace the Tigers. WR Devin Fossenman 175 and 3tds paced the Tigers pass catchers.
