Let’s get to it…..Another key SWAC Matchup takes place in Baton Rouge, La where Southern University will be celebrating their Homecoming. PVAMU plays thr role of the spoiler in this matchup. Southern is coming off a hard fought road win at Alabama State 45-34. The Jaguars feature one of the conference’s dynamic player in WR/KR Willie Quinn. Quinn , a Miami native first burst on the scene last season as the Jaguars top kick off and punt returner. The 5’5 160 threat can take it the distance. Quinn also starts as a slot reciever and gives defenses matchup problems. Quinn is quick and elusive and can become many opponents night mares. Quinn has gotten to the end zone every except against SEC foe Georgia and Alabama State. However , he did pick up some decent numbers in those two games. Quinn can also be a decoy as other Jaguars have stepped up and added more demensions to the offensive game plan. Quinn will look to show off his talent for Homecoming 2015 on the Bluff.
The team playing the spoiler role offers a guy that can do it all also. RB/KR Johnta Hebert , a native of Baton Rouge is PVAMU’S ” Mr. Excitement”. Hebert arrived in Prairie View, Texas as a top recruit of former PVAMU Coach Hice Northern , who recruited Hebert from his former high school Glen Oaks. Hebert’s father and Northern are good friends and one thing lead to another. In 2013, Hebert began making a name for himself as the Panthers used him as a special teams player who like Quinn , would give opponents fits with his speed and elusiveness. In 2014, Hebert began putting up huge numbers while sharing the work load with fellow RB Courtney Brown. When Brown was injured, Hebert went to work. This year alone, Hebert’s number has increased and he has reached the end zone quit a bit. I expect coach Willie Simmons to have a special playbook for Hebert as the Panthers visit his hometown looking to spoil tthe Jaguars party……..
