Derrick Griffin , TSU looks to shine in primetime…….

Get your popcorn ready……Texas Southern’s Derrick Griffin looks to shine tonight as his Tigers play host to Alabama State in a national TV broadcast via ESPNU at 6;30 pm. TSU is coming off a tough road lost to the Jackson State Tigers 34-30. However, Coach Daryl Asberry has found a new weapon in sophomore Derick Griffin , a 6’7 WR that has it all. Griffin is a former All State basketball and football player from nearby Terry High School in Rosenburg. Griffin originally signed with Texas A&M , but grades did him in. After getting his act together, he enrolled in TSU. Griffin adds another weapon to the TSU offensive package. With his size and athletic ability, he will cause match up problems for smaller opposing DB’S. Alabama State is coming off a 45-13 drubbing of MVSU. Coach Brian Jenkins finally broke into the winning column. Now he faces a tough challenge in defending Griffin and the Tigers on the road. Both Asberry and Jenkins need a win to stay in contention for the SWAC Championship. With a national audience watching , TSU or ASU could gain national respect plus another win in the win column.
