Jags, Braves ,and Tigers romp………TSU AND PV win close ones……..

As we approach week four of the young college football season , we have already had exciting games as well as a few upsets. LSU’S blasting of Auburn 45-24 along with Ole Miss romp at Alabama has really opened up many eyes nationwide. Within SWAC play, Southern University has really made a statement after scoring their second 50 point win game over Jackson State in Baton Rouge. Coach Odum’s Jags didn’t waste any time as they raced out to a 15-0 first quarter lead. Southern never looked back as the Jages went on to pile 675 total yards in offense to win 50-31. QB Austin Howard passed for 395 and 3TD’ S to lead the Jaguars. JSU ‘S QB La Montiez Ivy passed for 357 yatds and 3TD;’s to shime as well.

Coach Willie Simmons has really made an impression on the PV faithful as the Panthers held on to defeat Alabama A&M 53-49 in Waller, Texas. The Panthers raced to a 26-14 halftime lead. However, Coach James Spady lead his Bulldogs back to take a 43-40 lead in the fourth. However, PV held on to win. PV QB Trey Green 345 and 4TD’S paced the Panthers. WR Nick Pitre did his thing to lead with 8 catches for 196 and 3td’s. Bulldog QB 352 yards and 3Td’s paced AAMU.

Coach Fobbs and his GMEN head out to Alabama for a history lesson as well as giving the Hornets a lesson in holding on the the lead in a 34-10 victory. After visiting Selma, the Tigers made it to Montgomery just in time to teach Coach Brian Jenkins a lesson on maintaining leads in the SWAC. QB Johnathan Williams 284yards and four TD’S were enough to lead the Tigers to a conference win on the road. Alabama State just can’t catch a break as Jenkins is still searching for his firt win as Hornet’s head coach. QB Quinteris Toppings 159 paced the Hornets.

Coach Daryl Asberry got what he asked for in a 24-20 road win at UPAB. TSU’S down early came from behind in the third quarter seal the victory. TSU QB Johnathan Bowen passed for 178 yards and 1 TD. WR Derrick Griffin continues to blossom as he scored another TD in his 3rd straight game. UAPB Nick Woolfork rushed for 2Td’s to pace the Lions.

Alcorn State didn’t waste time disposing of lowly MVSU 55-14. QB John Gibbs rushed for 121 yards and passed for 118 and 1 td to lead the Braves. RB Aaron Baker added 2 TD’s as well. MVSU QB Ruban Thurston passed for 11o yards and 1 score to lead the Delta Devils…..
