SWAC Football : TIGERS and JAGUARS have alot to play for……….

Good Morning my people, I hope that your day is as blessed as ever. Let’s get right down to it. This weekend in Houston , the Southwestern Athletic Conference cumulates it’s 2013 Football season with a matchup made for all. The 9-2 Jackson State Tigers and the 8-4 Southern Jaguars meet at Reliant for bragging rights as well as the Eddie Robinson Trophy. Rick Comengy has done a great job in his 8 years at the helm of the Tigers. Jackson State has kept up their tradition as a SWAC football power and also has a nice following to brag about also. Lead by QB Clayton Moore , RB Gooden and WR Pennelton, the Tigers look to use their ground game as well as their air game to move the chains. Defensively, Comengy’s defense can be as stingy as they want to be. The Tigers like to pressure up front allowing the secondary to lock down on opponents passing game. Coach Dawson Odums has also done a great job for the Jaguars after having the interuim tag removeds last season. Lead by QB Joseph, WR Doss and among others, the Jaguars prefer to air it out but the run game has come to life as of recent. Defensively, the Jaguars used different packages to offset opponents offensive style. With the Tigers use of pounding the ball, the Jaguars may implement a more attacking style which allows more in the box and leaves more one on omne coverage with the Tigers recieving corps. The Jaguar Nation has come back to life again and with a rematch with the Tigers looming, Reliant might become more of a bowl like setting. The SWAC expects a crowd of nearly 40 or so. With walk up buyers, it could get into the 50K range. Many Houston Hotels are booked up and the buzz has started. SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharper took a gamble when he relcoated the game here to Houston, however he may be a winner with both JSU and SU bringing in many fans plus great bands to add to the excitment. Let the talk began, and the winner talks all……….realsportsrealtalk……..
