NCAA HOOPS: WITH APR IN WRECK, BCA TURNS ITS ATTENTION TO THE PAST TO HELP HBCU’S REACH THE FUTURE!!

Morning folk, God is still doing wonderful things today. Well folk, lets be honest, college athletics have taken a drastic measure in making schools accountable for kids’ success as well as graduation rates also. Many schools have taken measures to meet the NCAA strict giudelines howevers, most HBCU’S ( Historical Black Colleges and Universities ) have fallen behind and as a result many HBCU’S have lost scholarships and even been banned from post season. The death penalty could be the last straw if measures are not in place and academic achievement is not made. GRAMBLINGS STATE, SOUTHERN UNIVERSIT and JACKSON STATE of the Southwestern Athletic Conference suffered due to low APR scores. NCAA’S president MARK EMMERT , has taken measures to help HBCU’S reach their goals and maximize the resources to get them where they need to be. Due to budget restrictions also, HBCU’S were not able to hire an academic coach as well as put in any type of academic training or resources for students. While the NCAA celebrates its 74th FINAL FOUR in New Orleans, many meeting will be taking place there as well. Many HBCU’s coaches and adminstrators will be attending the BCA ( BLACK COACHES and ADMMINSTRATOR’S) meeting taking place this upcoming Saturday at the Hilton on the foot of Canal next to the EARL MORIAL CONVENTION CENTER. On docket to speak is the legendary coach, BEN JOBE , who made history by having his SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY team defeat 4 seeded Georgia Tech in 1993. Jobe is an historian of black college basketball as he not only played at FISK COLLEGE , but he coached during 5 generations…..60’S , 70’S, 80’S, 90’S and into Y2K until retiring in 2003 from Tuskegee. Jobe coached many all Americans , BOBBY PHILLS stands out the most. Jobe will be a present surprise for an organization who’s faught for equity amonst all schools for coaches and adminstrators. Issues such as APR and Budget restrictions should give JOBE plenty to talk about. With other issues pressing HBCU’S all the resources and advice would help mediate alot of problems that exist in HBCU athletics. In term, many top D-1 schools haver hired business people to run their athletic department which lead to many schools like TEXAS , to branch out and start their own network. Many schools have double their budgets and double theri work force. The blue print should be discussed at the BCA meeting as well. HBCU’S future depends on how the NCAA and those HBCU adminstrators access , design , implement and evaluate goals needed to reach the NCAA mandated goals of the future. What do yall think…..realsportsrealtalk!!

Good article. We need to be aware of our students education. I pray that they come up with a remedy because these student athletes need to definitely graduate

Hey bro, with the NCAA cutting the budgets , many HBCU schools are left working on the general fund. They must get wiser and hired a business person who knows how to bring money back to the athletic department.
